專四考試常見詞辨析：發(fā)現(xiàn)
discover, find, detect, ascertain
這些動詞均有發(fā)現(xiàn)之意。
discover : 普通用詞，指發(fā)現(xiàn)本來存在，但示被認識的事物、真理或情況。
Recently they have discovered a comet.
find : 普通用詞，可指偶然發(fā)現(xiàn)，也可指經(jīng)過尋找后得到或重新獲得已失去的東西。強調(diào)動作的結(jié)果。
I have found the lost book.
detect : 正式用詞，強調(diào)經(jīng)過周密觀察或研究而有所獲得和發(fā)現(xiàn)，尤指發(fā)現(xiàn)有意隱藏之物。
The sensors can also detect the presence of nuclear, chemical or biological agents.
